Brucella spp. in the western North Pacific and Antarctic cetaceans: a review

چکیده
Brucella spp. has been reported in a variety of marine mammals worldwide. Serological and pathological studies were conducted on the western North Pacific using samples from three whale species collected during 2000 under second phase Japanese Whale Research Program Special Permit Western (JARPN II). Serum 40 common minke whales (Balaenoptera acutorostrata), 43 Bryde’s (B. edeni) 4 sperm (Physeter macrocephalus) assessed with agglutination testing designed for B. abortus detection. Brucella-specific serum antibodies detected 38% samples. A lower prevalence (9%) antibody was observed samples, whereas no specific against four whales. 104 Antarctic bonaerensis) (JARPA) analysed, detected. Granular lesions caseation mineralisation found 35% (13 males one female) gonads. Similar also gonads male female whale. These gonad not 440 five whales, despite thorough examination reproduction studies. Histopathological showed that consisted epithelioid cells, multinucleated giant cells had an infiltration lymphocytes. DNA fragments amplified by PCR primers ten 22 abnormal testis tissues The sequences IS711 transposable elements downstream bp26, characteristic strains gene structure omp2, products seal strains, similarity to Atlantic rather than strains. This classification based mammal host species, cetacea pinippedia is appropriate. Considering zoonotic nature genus Brucella, crews researchers who have frequent contact serologically examined health issues associated this agent. No sera 51 persons 2001, nor 103 2003.

Artificial Radionuclides in the Western North Pacific: A Review
Artificial radionuclides in the marine environment pose a significant concern along various political, health and environmental aspects since they were introduced as a by-product from the nuclear weapon testing, particularly in the northwestern Pacific Ocean. While radiological concern is confined only in special cases, the introduction of artificial radionuclides has been proven to be very use...
متن کاملLong-term and large-scale epidemiology of Brucella infection in baleen whales and sperm whales in the western North Pacific and Antarctic Oceans
In a long-term, large-scale serologic study in the western North Pacific Ocean, anti-Brucella antibodies were detected in common minke whales (Balaenoptera acutorostrata) in the 1994-2010 offshore surveys (21%, 285/1353) and in the 2006-2010 Japanese coastal surveys (20%, 86/436), in Bryde's whales (B. edeni brydei) in the 2000-2010 offshore surveys (9%, 49/542), in sei whales (B. borealis) in ...
متن کاملBrucella ceti and Brucellosis in Cetaceans
Since the first case of brucellosis detected in a dolphin aborted fetus, an increasing number of Brucella ceti isolates has been reported in members of the two suborders of cetaceans: Mysticeti and Odontoceti. Serological surveys have shown that cetacean brucellosis may be distributed worldwide in the oceans. Although all B. ceti isolates have been included within the same species, three differ...
متن کاملRisk factors and seroprevalence of Brucella spp. in cattle from Western Amazon, Brazil. RISK FACTORS AND SEROPREVALENCE OF BRUCELLA SPP. IN CATTLE FROM WESTERN AMAZON, BRAZIL
The seroprevalence of Brucella spp. and the possible associated risk factors were estimated for 2,109 adult cows in Monte Negro county, State of Rondônia, Brazil. A questionnaire was completed for each farm where cattle were sampled. Laboratory tests were Rose-Bengal Agglutination, Standard Tube agglutination, and Mercaptoethanol. The adjusted overall prevalence of Brucella spp. seropositive co...
متن کاملWestern North Pacific Typhoons with Concentric Eyewalls
This study examines the intensity change and moat dynamics of typhoons with concentric eyewalls using passive microwave data and best-track data in the western North Pacific between 1997 and 2006. Of the 225 typhoons examined, 55 typhoons and 62 cases with concentric eyewalls have been identified. The data indicate that approximately 57% of category 4 and 72% of category 5 typhoons possessed co...
